A plum festival will be held at Yushima Tenjin, a 10-minute walk from Okachimachi.

■History of the Plum Blossom Festival Yushima Tenjin has been popular with many people as a “famous spot for plum blossoms” since the Edo period.
The Ume Matsuri, which was held in 1958, will celebrate its 66th anniversary this year. With the support of parishioners' neighborhood associations and other related organizations, the event has grown in scale each year, attracting a total of 400,000 people during the event. Broadcasted by each broadcasting station and decorated in each newspaper, it is now established as a national tradition.
